Hair of the Day - Lauren Conrad Ombre

Lauren Conrad with a little editing help

OK, so not strictly a picture of her actual hair, but instead what I think is a vast improvement. Would definitely love to try this out one day. Whaddya think? Mad or (Con)rad?

Hair of the Day - Smiley Virus

Miley Cyrus

Please tell me I'm not the only one who absolutely hates this? Miley is a classic sufferer of Sampson Syndrome: her power is in her hair. Without her trademark hairography of casually throwing her locks to and fro, she just doesn't have the same allure as she did with her va-va-voom volume. Instead, she now looks like the lovechild of Draco Malfoy and an albino La Roux.

However, I do have to admire Cyrus' attitude towards the Twitter backlash she received after pictures debuted on the social networking site: 'My dad Billy Ray Cyrus used to tell me, "Opinions are like assholes - everyone has one". LOVE my hair. Feel so happy, pretty, and free.'

Suddenly I don't hate it so much. After coming across this picture...

...I would even go as far as saying I like it. Just don't wear it in a Fresh Prince-style quiff please, Miley.

Chanel don't come cheap (except from this online store)

Chanel S/S 13

Once again, Karl Lagerfeld has hit the ball out of the park with the most recent Chanel (or ‘Channel’, which I read worryingly too often on many a blog) Paris fashion show. Slick monochrome looks with splashes of saccharine pastel colours and a smattering of trademark tweed, the line draws on many classic looks of the past. I think if Madame Coco was alive today, this would be exactly how she’d dress. Part Parisian chic, part avant-garde, the refined column dresses and box jackets are perfectly offset by oversized pearl necklaces and giant wide brimmed Perspex hats (just like James Bond nemesis  Oddjob, who threw a bowler hat with a circular blade hidden in the rim, the Chanel creation may cause more injuries than compliments).

Genuine Chanel pieces radiate the wearer’s sense of style, understanding of luxury and undeniable wealth, as most pieces, be it hot off the catwalk or from a vintage era, cost thousands to own. That is why your Average Joe must look on in lust whenever one passes an item with the linked C’s smugly stamped across it.

However, fashion is starting to look kindly upon those who do not have an unlimited bank balance. The website classysale.com is selling vintage Chanel jewellery at wholesale prices. Oh my, the prices are bloody good. And they ship worldwide for free! Suddenly emulating Coco seems actually within our grasp. Surely there must be a catch? Ah, you do have to by a minimum of three items at one go. Well, they do have to make a profit after all. Still, with prices starting at $95, this is too good an offer to pass up. See my top picks below (figuerine necklace - $570; Chanel Paris circular black earrings - $130; cuff bracelet with green stone - $500; large heart earrings - awaiting stock):

Going High Brow

Cara Delevingne sporting amazeballs brows

I am a sucker for a prominent brow. Give me two hairy slugs on a gal's face over barely there arches any day.

A couple of years ago I started to grow out my eyebrows as large, unkept facial framers began to become de rigueur, cropping up all over the fashion scene and creeping onto models’ faces. Once I define the shape using an eyebrow pencil, filled in the gaps and darkened the colour using Benefit Brow Zings shaping wax, I am the owner of bushes Cara Delevingne would be proud of.

MAC Cosmetic's Brow Finisher

Now it has been brought to my attention (thanks to Who What Wear) that MAC has a fab product to keep my hard work in place. The Brow Finisher, which played an intrinsic part in Proenza Schouler’s make-up routine this season, is a slim-line clear wax tool which sets your brows to perfection, without leaving any shine or stickiness. Instead, it creates a slick, polished look, keeping the bedhead style of the brow world in place all day and night. I’m definitely adding Mac’s Brow Finisher to my Xmas List pronto, and I think you should consider doing the same.

Shoot The Messenger

Hakaan Himself

The fashion world exploded in rage yesterday when word got out the Hakaan show was going to have to be cancelled after their ENTIRE runway collection for Spring 2013 had been lost by the courier.

Vogue UK had the scoop, reporting the show, scheduled today at 1:30pm during Paris Fashion Week, was no longer going to take place. Their PR agency, Karla Otto PR, confirmed the rumour to be true, but would not disclose why or how the incident had occurred.

And we thought it was the FROW guests who caused the biggest palaver (Slapgate, anyone?). Team Hakaan are currently trying to remake all the pieces which will be viewed by the press at a later date, but what a kick to the pom-poms that must be for everyone involved. Obviously, they aren’t holding out much hope of getting the collection back, so it sounds like someone is running around the streets of Paris with a very lucrative street stall right now. Black market is the new black.
