On my relatively recent 22nd birthday I was thrilled to receive a bottle of Chanel Rouge Noir nail polish from some family friends. I love the black cherry colour, and read in an interview Marianne Faithfull paid for weekly manicures using this colour as her trademark. So I was filled with ideas of sophistication to be an owner of such a polish. Sadly, any glimmer of the Parisian chic I wished to encompass vanished no more than two days later when the nail varnish had already started to chip.

But surely makeup that expensive was sure to be perfect? It's Chanel for Karl's sake! I had been looking at high-end cosmetics through (D&G) rose-tinted glasses.

Then my partner showed me her brilliant find. As one who got caught up in the nail art craze, she has exhausted all internet search engines looking for great polishes, trying and testing all that came her way. American brand Color Club came out number one. They do a fab line of holographic colours (you can find them cheapest on ebay) which is what attracted me to them, so I ordered one in black called Revvvolution as fast as my chipped nails could type. However, the bottle that really caught my eye was Peace Out Purple. It's a great colour pop for this season- it clash-coordinates with pastels, and stands out as a hint of neon when worn with neutral or dark tones.

So far I've had Color Club's Peace Out Purple on for five days and not a single chip or mark. This is definately a club everyone should be a member of!

Drunch: The Drunk Brunch

I have recently come across the latest event-trend on the scene: the liquid brunch.

On its most basic level, it is a daytime party, usually during the hours of 10am-3pm. But with food. Proving to be a massive hit across the pond in New York, the socialite's weekly Saturday mid-morning breakfast-lunch has been transported to the streets of London, where undoubtedly the chic and stylish will be sipping Bloody Marys and dancing on the tables while DJs spin the decks in broad daylight. Out go English Breakfasts with a side order of buttered toast, in with champers and vodka (not mixed together, of course).

Love Brunch have been going down a storm, with their next event planned for Saturday 25th Feb at Supperclub. Apparently they have a superb lineup of talent to wow the masses with, five star brunch food and impeccable service, all from midday. Tickets are £20 but are selling out fast, so if you miss out, fear not. Dates are booked for March and April TBC, so there's always another time to get your arvo groove on.

If you like the idea but don't want to party hard during the day, there is the Gospel Brunch at Altitude on Sunday. A more uplifting experience, The London Gospel Community Choir will wax lyrical while you dine on  hearty food for the soul, coffee, tea and juices. You can either relax with a paper, or get the audience participation going by singing along to gospel classics. Taking place every Sunday between 11am-3pm, The Gospel Brunch is £49 per person.

Now for what is sure to be a totally rad day/night out, the Banacal 54 Brunch is on Saturday 3rd March. The dress code is outrageous attire from the disco era, so you know all chances of a dull occasion are already out the well-lit window. If you only want to come for the post-food festivities, tickets are available for when the ball gets rolling after 3pm. Expect a large crowd and ensuing mayhem!

I'm all for being a lady of leisure where liquid lunches are part of the normal shopping-trip schedule (turning the credit card into a lethal weapon), so this sounds my kind of deal. Like-minded creatures who think there are never enough hours in the night to party, the era of the Drunch is for you.
